Will transferring my website from free hosting to paid hosting affect traffic?

I plan to have my website hosted on a free hosting site with a paid domain name. If the response is good I plan to move to paid hosting. My site is actually hosted on wordpress. So the question is can I export the wordpress blog to some other paid host without affecting my traffic? I will than redirect my already registered domain to the new paid host. Will it affect search engine rankings and backlinks?

The actual hosting wont affect how or why your domain name is crawled by search engines. That will be down to content and exposure. The free hosting would likely have less bandwidth available so less users can get on if you have that many.
